I am a flower bent over the water
Drinking my fill of my own reflection
I am a beautiful, beautiful flower
But I only bend in one direction.
I was a man once, and free.
In the forest I heard a voice
Calling out with love to me
And I knew I had a choice:
Bow to another’s desire
And give up my throne
Or seek one even higher
And bow to myself alone.
Eagerly I chose the latter
But when I saw myself reflected
It caused my heart to shatter
Knowing then what I rejected.
A face I can never kiss
Stares back from the deep.
I strike myself and miss
I sold myself too cheap.
I traded everything for this
That I cannot even keep.
Because I stole my bliss
I will now forever sleep.
