How wonderful must it feel to be a flower,
Toes tucked into the cool earth,
Hands held out to catch the breeze,
Bright face basking in the sun.
Limber arms reaching up to embrace the day,
To invite the busy bumblebees to play.
How ticklish the soft petals must be,
How funny their tiny feet must feel.
How sweet is the scent of a flower’s nectar
To a honeybee, butterfly, or hummingbird.
What friendship must flourish among those
Who together play in the forests and fields.
What more fun could any creature have?
To drink delight each day from Daffodil, Daphne and Delphinium,
Greeting each with gentle touch and blissful kiss,
To frolic euphoric from flower to fabulous flower.
Heaven is displayed on Earth in springtime:
Flying creatures fill the air like angels,
Crowds of flowers bow like praying saints.
One needs only walk along a garden path
To be transported back to paradise.
