A dispassionate disposition
Is not stoic, it’s pathetic.
You who lack the courage to care
Must to do more than merely
Manage your quiet despair.
Life is hard, and only gets harder
The longer we wait to be great.
There is nothing better in life
Than giving everything in your heart.
Everything falls apart
When we don’t hold together.
The world is full of evil and chaos.
Against all of it stands just us.
There is a thin thread of love
Holding life above the abyss.
To fight, to care and sacrifice
Is love, and the very act of living.
Doing anything else is submitting
To death, decay, and darkness.
To love is the purpose of being.
The rest is just the process.
The only thing that justifies life
Is the warmth we give each other.
The cold will always creep through
The spaces in our embraces,
But the fire will stay alight inside us
As long as we remember this:
Tears are the water we must drink,
Laughter is the air we must breathe,
And we must feed our families with kisses.
